One might wonder to themselves after watching the teaser of Freshman Year, “How does one film by the ocean, in a flight path, by a main street and a major park and come out with crystal clear audio?” The answer, Dan Backman, a master sound technician, accomplished journalist, author, screenwriter, current producer and newest force to be reckoned with on the team of Komma Films. With Komma Films’ goal of encompassing the globe with inspiring art, Backman completes the U.S bi-coastal portion of our mission. Where to next? Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves… currently we are deep in the throes of pre-production for the hilariously profound bromantic comedy, Freshman Year. Today pre-production, tomorrow “The World!”

Komma Films’ Jazz Jive Swings Brooklyn

Posted: March 4th, 2009 | Author: bresky | Filed under: PreProduction | No Comments »

Monday, March 2nd, 2009: A mob of art thirsty film supporters braved the fluke “Winter Snap,” to support Komma Films and raise funds for their current project: Freshman Year. Any weaker film fans would have stayed at home, but driven by communal artistic vision they trudged through the Winter Spring Wonderland to Pane & Vino on Smith Street in the heart of Brooklyn. The smooth notes of the jazz ensemble Equilibrium set the tone of the night led by Nicholas Mauro. Accompanied by great food, wine and fabulous friends the Jazz Jive was a huge success. The event was a celebration of artistic collaboration, and the fundraiser would not have been such a success had it not been for many generous contributors:

For all who came together on that snowy night, we thank you for your support
